Luxor – As part of the Inclusive Insurance Conference held in Luxor, Nefertari Hall hosted a distinguished open session this morning entitled “The Pioneer Inclusive Insurance Journey”, which showcased a unique case study based on the book “Covering Nanay”, attended by the book’s author along with a group of international experts in health insurance.
The book’s author, a global expert in microinsurance and inclusive insurance, delivered a detailed presentation on the Philippines’ experience in providing health insurance services to low-income women—a model that serves as an inspiring example for similar markets around the world, including developing countries and the Arab region.
The presentation addressed the challenges of designing and implementing health insurance programs that respect local culture and meet the needs of low-income families, as well as the innovations that contributed to the success of the initiative and improved the quality of life for its female beneficiaries.
The session drew wide engagement from attendees, particularly representatives of insurance companies and civil society organizations, who expressed interest in applying this experience in their home countries and enhancing collaboration with international experts.
“Covering Nanay” is considered a key reference that explores successful models in inclusive insurance. It was published by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and highlights the importance of designing flexible and comprehensive insurance products targeting underserved and traditionally excluded groups.
It is worth noting that this session is part of a series of events organized by the conference to promote knowledge exchange and explore best global practices in insurance, aiming to enhance financial and health inclusion across the region.
